The GCDS Student Life Instagram page officially became active on April 26th, 2022. The account’s mission is to inform the GCDS Upper School community and student body about things like the daily schedule, upcoming events, spirit days, fun highlights such as the student section at sporting events, and new traditions such as the Amazing Race. The Instagram username is @gcds_studentlife and already has 300 followers and has created informative and spirited posts.

Ms. Wood is very supportive of the page, she says “It is something we have wanted to do for a long time now, because we know that social media is the main way where a lot of information gets passed around, especially as the school grows and it’s a way for all of us to feel like really connected to each other and to know what is happening in the building. It is a place for everyone to celebrate each other and keep posted about the schedule.” Ms. Wood also said that the process to get the account created took a while to get approved and expressed what she hopes for the students to contribute to the account. “I would love for students to help run it next year, but it requires a lot of rule following, and next year I would like it if a student would help do that.”

Will, a 12th Grader, shared his feelings about the new Student Life Instagram. “I think the GCDS Student Life Instagram is good because it updates the students on what’s happening on campus and kind of just raises awareness on how we are an active community.”

Jordyn, an 11th Grader, expressed how the Instagram account has been beneficial for her. “I see the story every morning on Instagram, so it helps me know what the schedule is; it is really helpful and the account does what it is supposed to do.”

Recently, the gcds_studentlife Instagram posted updates of the Student government election and the Seniors trip to the Mets game. The new Instagram account has proven to be a great addition to the GCDS high school community. If you are interested in being reminded and kept up to date on upcoming events and the schedule, feel free to follow the GCDS student life Instagram @gcds_studentlife.
